I used to be a professional inker, and sometime artist, having done work for Marvel, DC et al. I became distanced from the industry once I moved down here from NY to SC, just kind of lost touch with everything. But there was another issue that pushed me away from drawing, something most of my peers have not been aware of until right now.

I have suffered from Fibromyalgia for years now, although only finally diagnosed about a year and a half ago, I have lived in chronic moderate to severe pain for almost 15 years. Although the pain afflicts my entire body, in particular it is the pain in my hands and lower arms that led me all but put down a pencil for good several years ago. It was a struggle to get the lines I wanted out of my pencil I felt I could never achieve the style I wanted out of my artwork.

It is only over the last few weeks that I have picked up a pencil and started to sketch every single day again. I'm still knocking the rust off so to speak, but I have a bright outlook. I'm not fighting what comes naturally any more. My style will be whatever it will be, whatever my head and my hands allow me to do as long as it's fun and brings me enjoyment.

The majority of this entry is an excerpt written as a thank you to the very talented Dana Black...he has been an inspiration to me.  You should check out his work here: danablackarts.deviantart.com/

Always with crayon in hand Charles was the proverbial artist as a small child. In grammer school he began to develop an interest in comics, which further fueled his creativity and ability to draw. In high school he began developing his illustration and technical drafting skills in an effort to hone his skills to a more professional level. After graduating from Mt. Vernon High school in 1991 Chip set his sites on attending the School of Visual Arts in New york City, which offered classes taught by some of the comic industry greats such as Will Eisner and Walter Simonson.

In 1993, his third year of attendance at SVA, Art samples shown to editor David Wohl earned him steady work at Marvel comics. In the years that paseed he would find himself lending his artistic talents at DC comics as well as several other large publishers, some of his career highlights include: GI JOE, THE PUNISHER, THE RAY ANNUAL #1, ARGUS BLACK LIGHTNING, JUSTICE LEAGUE TASK FORCE, JUSTICE LEAGUE AMERICA, GREEN LANTERN, IMPULSE, DC SHOWCASE, FLASH GREEN LANTERN-FASTER FRIENDS GRAPHIC NOVEL PART II, MAGNUS ROBOT FIGHTER TUROK, X-WING ROGUE SQUADRON,and many more.
